INITIAL SAFETY MEASURES/PREVENTION
1. Please avoid walk-in patients; if possible by appointment only. For new patients, let them fill up the dental chart/record with their own handwriting and with their signatures affixed to it. Include 2 character references if possible.
2. Whenever possible, close your clinics between 1:30-3:00 pm, when the culprit or perpetrator usually comes in for dental service. Watch out for properly- dressed patients with excessive jewelries. If possible ask for any identification cards with them.
3. Refrain from using heavily tinted glasses in the clinic.
4. Installation of a CCTV unit and employment of a security guard are considered deterrents. Subject to financial consideration of the dentist, a hidden digital camera without flash or similar gadget is a big help.
5. Installation of a remote or foot-controlled alarm or buzzer, which will alert neighboring establishments or passers-by.
6. Dentists and staff should dress appropriately in the clinic so as not to attract any malicious intent.
7. Install alarm or buzzer connected to your neighbors with hidden switch that is accessible to you even during treatment of your patient.
8. Employ additional helpers, preferably have a male assistant or aide with you.
9. Always have presence of mind. Stay cool, calm and don’t panic, when you are accosted with knife or gun, tear gas by the robber.
10. Take Note of PNP or Barangay HOTLINE/EMERGENCY Number in your area of practice
