PDA’s online home: www.pda.ph

The Philippine Dental Association

With the advent of technology, life couldn’t get any better. Information dissemination becomes fast and readily available. A website is considered as the online face of an organization. And what does it mean to a non-profit organization like PDA? I suppose many would agree that the internet is a very powerful tool when it comes to providing an alternative means of communication. The PDA website has been online for the past 5 years or so and as a many people would have noticed, it has been aggressively promoted to the members and the public in the year 2008 when it was re-launched as www.pda.ph. On top of the design and layout, the content and maintenance have all been given serious consideration by the website committee.

One of the primary objectives is to make sure that the information architecture/site structure is properly organized in order that the members and the public will be served the best way possible. As of to date, we are continuously giving close attention in looking for ways to continuously improve the site by knowing key elements that our visitors would benefit from, like effective content organization, improved navigational schemes and dynamic links to make it intuitive, easy to use and secure at the same time. Together with the website, we have also created a very useful tool, which is one of the largest social networking sites, the Facebook Fan Page, where our members could build affinity with other members, thus providing a link between them and the website. It further allows us to aggregate our website content and easily pull it into one central page thus making it easy for members to access the news which are all directly linked to PDA’s online home www.pda.ph. Both activities on Facebook and the website are combined, making the community a two-way street, where we are able to unearth timely topics and conversations around the organization.

Although activities, photos, and events are easily shared in the Facebook fan page, the objective of the website committee is not to undermine the role of the PDA website which is primarily the main source of information. The web presence of PDA will continue to bring new developments to become more efficient in spreading the word, deliver information in a planned and systematic manner, crafting it well enough so that it will really become a handy powerful source of information that members and the general public can benefit from altogether.

The website committee greatly encourages suggestions and comments for the improvement of our online presence. Feel free to email us at secretariat@pda.ph so we could serve you better.
